Vocational education and training (VET) is at the forefront of EU policies from the very beginning of European cooperation, and is included in the wider framework for European cooperation in education and training and in the European educational area. Once again, the European Commission is placing knowledge and skills at the heart of the development of the European political agenda for the coming years. Below we highlight the latest European strategic documents, which give VET in Europe a new and fresh impetus.

Council Recommendation on Vocational Education and Training (VET) for Sustainable Competitiveness, Social Justice and Resilience is an important strategic document, which addresses VET systems even more directly than the new European Skills Agenda.
